Experience

Aphrodite’s Farm | Short Film

Locations Scout & Manager

Directed by Adam Strange, this short film won Best Short Film at the 2009 Berlin International Film Festival.

It’s a whimsical love story that takes place on a dairy farm in Taranaki, New Zealand in the 1930s.

With a fairy tale feel, the film has been compared to Amelie and O’ Brother Where Art Thou…

Finding Haka | VR Doumentary

Locations Scout & Manager

Haka is known all over the world as the oldest, fiercest and most intimidating ritual in the history of rugby.

This original VR docu-drama follows the spiritual journey of a young man called Hemi who is searching for his lost Māori roots – through Finding Haka; within his mind, body and soul.

Experience

Finding Haka | VR Docu-Drama – 2017

Writer & Director

James’ next VR drama project ‘Finding Haka’ was Sky VR’s first commissioned project and was shot in New Zealand with the Maori communities.

“I wanted to create a powerful and important film that highlights the significance of preserving cultural identity and heritage. The power, the rawness and the eruption of emotion of the Haka is overwhelming; it begged to be explored in VR. I hope the film will resonate with not only sports fans but also history fanatics around the world.”
James Hedley, Finding Haka’s director

Simon | VR Documentary – 2016

Writer & Director

James’ first film ‘Simon’ premiered at the 2016 London Film Festival and showcased at the Cannes International Film Festival & Kaleidoscope VR Festival.

What’s it like to be Simon, a young man with Cerebral Palsy? Immerse yourself into his world in this inspirational short VR film and witness the steps he takes every single day to combat unintentional, yet isolating judgement.

Winner of ‘Best Director Award’ at Encounters Film Festival. Described by Mark Atkin of the Sheffield Documentary Festival as a “masterclass in cinematic VR storytelling”.
